The widow of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin has paid tribute to the letters of condolence sent to her from around the world in the months following her husband's death. Terri Irwin has been left stunned by the love sent her way after Steve was killed during a stingray attack off the Queensland coast in Australia in September (06). Speaking to U.S. chat show host Ellen DeGeneres, she says, "I can't thank everyone enough. It's a long road that I've got ahead of me but the love and support, the letters from America, the outpouring of sympathy - he wouldn't have believed it. "He was a very humble man, he would have been just shocked." Steve Irwin was fatally pierced in the chest in September of last year by a stingray spine whilst snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef. At the time he was filming his own documentary Ocean's Deadliest at the time. Irwin's friend and colleague Jonh Stainton descibed the tragedy as: "a one-in-a-million thing." During his career as a conservationist and television personality the Crocdile Hunter caused controversy one of the most weel know occured in 2004 when whilst carrying his one month old son he hand fed a chicken carcass to a 12.5ft crocodile. Since his death Steve's 9 year old daughter Bindi looks set to take over as a presenter. Having melted the hearts of many worldwide with her speech ar her father's funeral she has gone on to film a 26 part wildlife documentary Bindi the Jungle Girl for Discovery Kids television network.
