Fame is toxic, says Clooney

George Clooney has hit out at Hollywood stars for taking themselves too seriously. The Ocean’s Eleven star, 46, who has used his fame to call attention to ethnic cleansing in Darfur, believes it is important for stars to keep their perspective. He says: “I won’t mention names, but there are certain actors who make me think, ‘how on earth can you take yourself so seriously? All that is just cinema. Too many pats on the back, too much frivolity, in the end it’s all a bit toxic. For that reason, I have to do other things.”
